With apologies to American friends, I've no idea whether Uni and gap years exist over there or what you call them. University is when state education finishes at age 18, and parents or debt fund higher education. Some choose to take a year which in my world means a displacement activity - something fun to defer the academic work (usually travelling).
Of course sheep are no different to us. Given the opportunity to take a holiday rather than work, they'll take that. Especially if it has a fun name like 'gap year' to legitimise it.
